Round 2 of commonly Misspelled words.  We will do 4 rounds of 25.  Quizzes are on Fridays.

Students are continuing to work their way through the poetry contract which includes reading, analyzing, comprehending, memorizing and applying knowledge by writing a poem.

Extra credit is also available.

March 7-11 -

Still crazy week due to CSAP

On Monday, we read a Short story called "UNcle Marcos" and talked about types of characters.

Wednesday we read "The Necklace" and learned about characterization including a class activity.

Friday - We read Rules of the Game and discussed inferences and characterization.

NEXT WEEK March 14-17 - CONFERENCES ON TUESDAY adn THursday.  NO SCHOOL FRIDAY.

Students discussed "Carry Your Own Skis"

Writing Assignment:  Write a personal narrative similar to the anecdote, "Carry Your Own Skis".  Students should relate a story where they learned a life lesson.  Using the 5 senses to help create a vivid picture, the reader should feel for the narrator.  The second part of the piece should explain how the narrator in the present has been helped by the life lesson. 

The expectation is that the assignment will be between 1-2 pages.  A completed rough draft is due on Monday.

1.  Students completed an Assessment of Comprehension and Vocabulary skills.  The test should reveal individual reading comprehension and vocabulary grade levels for students as they begin their high school careers.

2.  Vocabulary Unit 1 - Latin and Greek Prefixes/Roots - Definitions due on Friday, 10 Sentences written from a selection of 10 vocabulary words due on Monday, Sept. 13.  Vocabulary Quiz on Wednesday.

3.  Took IMPORTANT Notes on 8 Parts of Speech.  Quiz on Wednesday or Friday next week.

4.  Assigned "Postitive Mental Attitude" Poster - Due Friday.  -Late Posters Accepted Monday for 10% decrease in grade.  Not accepted after Monday.
